Frank and all, dont let Greenspan off the hook. His remarks may have been "sensationalized" but he still broached the subject of close Fed scrutiny of the stock market, and has used alarmist rhetoric in the past. I STILL SAY HE NEEDS TO SHUT UP, PERIOD. There was no need for his vacation speech.
The irony is he is contributing to VOLATILITY and INSTABLITY in the stock market. If he keeps spouting off, more investors will become traders, bidding up the stocks when Greenspan is dormant, selling just before he "speaks." Buying them back after the post-Greenspan nosedive.
While hold a stock when you know Greenspan is about to testify or deliver a speech. You know he will always drive the market down.
He is making the market more irrational, not less.
