Croc, What a wonderful time..... We went whalewatching in Hawaii when the boys were much younger, and the thrill of seeing one leap into the air is caught like a still life in my mind- sun reflecting off the spray, this enormous creature lifting itself -HOW?- our of the water and arcing in the air, landing with this enormous splash. I suppose it's only been added in memory, but I hear it in my insides the way you hear a bass drum in your stomach as a parade passes by. We saw several that day, the guide said he was surprised at how close they came to the boat. I don't know if the boys remember all these things; I like to think that somewhere they're all etched in the clay of whatever forms them.
