"Blaming moderates" was not the exercise in which I was interested. Defining them was, and indicating some of what happens when their lack of the "true belief" for which you have blanket contempt results in their passivity in the face of massive evil.
It was your apparent contempt for all "true belief," however humanely it expresses itself, and however extreme the evil against which it expresses itself, to which I was addressing myself.
Yours seems to be quite an extreme belief, this view that, as you put it, "I have a [moral] duty NOT to push you over a cliff, but I have no [moral] duty to save you if you fall, or if someone else pushes you-"
Together with your defense of the "good German" syndrome, the above is so extreme a belief, in the realm of ethical thought, that it might qualify you for a category for which you have disdain, I think. |
