Extremely unlikely. Most likely, the ITU standard will be somewhere in between K56Flex and x2, and everyone will have to adapt to it. That is the reason it would be foolish to buy a non-software upgradeable modem from anyone.

The 56k committee has determined that 33.6kb will be the uplink speed in the standard. Sorry, but I can't find where I read that.
