David; re: Close enough to *NEVER* for me

Since Microsoft management has stated that Windows CE is not a hard RTOS, it would be silly to make believe otherwise. If Windows CE is not now a hard RTOS, it would be highly unlikely that it would ever evolve into one. This is close enough to *never* for me.

In your post #744, you said that Windows CE effects the *entire* embedded market. This is a broader claim than Microsoft itself, is willing to make.

I recommend that you do more research into hard and soft RTOS. There is a major difference between an RTOS that guarantees timeliness and one that promises a probability of timeliness.
