Playing with the patent server over at IBM. I looked up #4214125 which ESS claims on their MPEG product briefs. 4214125 : Method and apparatus for speech synthesizing Weird. I don't recall speech synthesis as part of the MPEG spec... patent.womplex.ibm.com A search by company name turns up a number of Cube MPEG patents. I went through some of them.
