"The reality is -- you can make India "shine" only when
you place it alongside Pakistan"

You do agree india shines.

Well, that's what you believe. But that's because you are an ignoramus (not an animal). Those who know better also know that the two countries are in pretty much the same shape, socially and economically.

Take a look at the following data. On most of the parameters, India is worse than Pakistan :

Human Development Index rank : Pakistan: 138 India: 139 (out of 174)
Real GDP per capita : Pakistan: $ 2209 India: $ 1422 All Developing countries(DCs): $ 3068
Adult literacy rates : Pakistan: 37.8% India: 52% All DCs: 70.44%
Underweight children under age 5 : Pakistan 40, India 53, all DCs 30.
Primary school pupil-teacher ratio : Pakistan 41, India 46, all DCs 33.

The fact is that comparisons between india and pakistan came about because of kargil, nuclear capability, nuclear insanity on the part of the paksis.

Let's take them one by one. There has been a Kargil and there will be more down the road. If you doubt that, just wait and see! Why will there be more Kargils? Because Pakistan is now on a level playing field vis-a-vis India.

Which leads us to the second point -- nuclear capability. Both countries are nuclear-capable now. And the first and fundamental rule of the nuclear revolution is that nuclear superiority does not matter. Even if Pakistan has a few crude nuclear weapons, it can stave off India, no matter how sophisticated a nuclear arsenal India builds.

And coming to the third point, "nuclear insanity", one doesn't have to go farther than the saffron-langots' publications like "Panchajanya", which were urging the government of India to "solve" the Kargil crisis by using nuclear weapons.
