i just listened to a a recording of a mark edelstone briefing given at the idf at 8:00 am pst
this morning to institutional investors...key points from my notes...not verbatim, but close...not embellished either

mark said he was at an intel showcase and cocktail party last night. spoke with numerous intel people there and at the earlier demonstration.
rambus was demo'ed with 820
chipsets. video. 3D graphics and data base processing need rambus.
coppermine is due for release in late october. .18 issues all resolved. coppermine 700mhz
in 1st Q.

intel engineers say rambus is the memory for at least 3-5 years.

rmbs in notebook pc's next year.

dell goofed by posting workstations with rambus on website yesterday. jumped the gun.
sites now removed.

question...what feel did you get from intel's body language?
intel is going to demonstrate today that rambus has 3X the bandwidth. the key issue is
software. as software is released we need rambus.
expects intel to release benchmarks today showing rambus to be 20-50% faster on today's
applications.

question...do via or amd change your expectations for the rambus ramp?
we have no change to our expectations for rambus. our projections are much lower than
intel's so there is a lot of room for upside...but we project over 1,000,000 pc's with
rambus will be sold this year. we project at least 1/3 of all pc's next year will use rambus.
thereafter rambus will be the majority of the market.

response to a ?...said...intel may make some statement today about pc133, but pc133 and
rambus do not compete.

response to a ?...said...dell will have rambus in optiplex starting out. dell's pc business is
optiplex and dimension. 2/3 optiplex, 1/3 dimension.
