Cardboard boxes... they were THE BEST... especially the big ones that stoves or washing machines came packed in. Those boxes made great spaceships.... or you could get inside of them and roll down a hill without doing major damage to yourself...just so long as you didn't crash into a tree that is...

There weren't too many rules about "playing" at our house... just that one about not running with a pair of scissors in case you poked your eyes out... Pots and pans were used to make great drum sets. My dad's drafting table made a fantastic cave when you draped blankets over it...

Don't know if it resulted in any great ill effects in my later life. The only minor one is my inability to pass by a large cardboard crate without thinking of what neat things I could do with it.
