DELL OFFERS FREE UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 2000 FOR ALL DESKTOPS, NOTEBOOKS AND WORKSTATIONS INSTALLED WITH WINDOWS NT
ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 31, 1999--Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL), the world's leading direct computer systems company, today announced a free upgrade program to Microsoft's Windows(R) 2000 Professional operating system for customers in the Americas who purchase Windows NT(R) Workstation 4.0 (English version) factory-installed on all Dell desktop PCs, notebook PCs and workstations.
The program, valid for purchases made through February 2000, includes all currently shipping OptiPlex(R) and Dimension(R) families of desktops, Dell Inspiron(tm) and Latitude(R) series of notebooks and Dell Precision(tm) WorkStations. Dell is the first company to offer such a comprehensive Windows 2000 free upgrade program across all of its currently shipping personal systems.
Dell is also including with every upgrade the Dell Upgrade Kit, tailored for the customer's system, which includes all required driver and BIOS updates and supporting documentation to help customers implement the new operating system.

Current Dell customers who want to assess the readiness of their existing systems for Windows 2000 can access the Dell Windows 2000 Readiness Advisor at www.dell.com/windows2000. This unique Web-based tool uses a system's service tag number to assist customers in determining if their configuration is ready for upgrading to Windows 2000. Dell is also posting the latest BIOS and driver codes on the Web site to help ensure the best possible testing experience.
