For those who compare 1929 with 1999.Are the economic instruments of production the same? Can rail road be compared to cyberspace, 50 mph with speed of light! Physical presence and barriers of distance with a world that does not require physical interaction to do business or a globe where distance is practically dead, the niche capabilities and competitive advantage of nations are at work. Those who make cheese or perfumes are doing their job those who make soft ware and CPU's better are making new inroads, the overall advantage is that economic growth is seeing unprecedented progress, with low P/E's of yester years these issues need to be addressed also the growth factor that releases a corporate entity from its limited world of distance and physical barriers like from Nice to Paris or conquering of the wild west. Today's corporate domains have empires extending far and beyond, wider than British Empire without the pains of governance and colonialism, where it was said that sun never sets.

Here in this age sun never rises or sets in the global empires woven by INTC's and MSFT's or IBM the largest internet company of the world (yes the largest). It is always a mid day somewhere in a MSFT or C country.

A provocative point for debate only after I saw this NORTEL site in connection with my efforts to know NORTEL.. well.
