<I wonder what Kryotech must be thinking> I've always wondered about Kryotech and their interesting little projects. Remember that super-cooled K6-3 running at 500 MHz that Anandtech demoed back in March 3rd of this year? anandtech.com Already that super-cooled system is obsolete now that Athlon 500 (or 550 if 500 was axed) has been released. Yeah, I know, other processors get obsoleted over time as well. But consider this, those processors don't require a refridgeration unit to continue working. With a Kryotech, every time you turn on the computer, you have to wait until the temperature reaches a very cold state before the computer actually boots up. And no doubt that Kryotech unit will consume power and give off a lot of heat in the process. In other words, the Kryotech might be nice if a customer absolutely, positively, and desperately needs the extra computing power immediately. But once non-super-cooled processors surpass it in performance, it becomes pointless to continue running the Kryotech system. Same thing goes for the upcoming 1 GHz Kroytech Athlon systems coming up. It's nice for bragging rights and a chance to appear in the gamerz' web sites, but what's the point if non-super-cooled processors are going to reach that speed in less than a year after its introduction?
