Great moment on Wall Street Week last Friday night.
Louis Ruhkeyer commented on the unnamed Merril Lynch
analyst who recommended selling INTEL when it hit 50,
saying it would go to 40, and today at 75 recommends
INTEL saying it will go to 120. To quote Lou "What do
these guys make, 2 - 3 Million a year?" Points out
the horrible problem of relying on "experts". At least
with a pitcher you know their ERA. a hitters batting
average. Somebody should put together a "batting
average" for analysts so those who should be discounted
are not given such a wide press. I did a lot of hard
questioning of my investment in INTEL when INTC hit 50
and I reached the exact opposite conclusion. I bought
more (actually at 56+ - I'm lousy at timing). IMHO the
real subject that should be talked about more in this
thread is what are realistic price targets for INTC for the
the next 1,2 and 5 year periods. Is INTC going to hit a
growth wall ever? When do you sell (for me this is the most
baffling question)? All these questions from someone who first
bought INTC in 1982 and has held on all these years.
