Average $/MB is obtained by adding up the $/MB for all items and dividing by the number of items. Unfortunately small cards tend to have high $/MB values (e.g. ~$26/MB for a 2MB CF card) the weighted average tries to offset this by accounting for a cards capacity. The weighted average is obtained by multiplying a cards size by its cost, summing this product and then dividing by the number of cards. I will let you draw your own conclusions.
