Here is something interesting, it is consistant with Raza's interview after his resignation. He just wanted to be in the more dynamic field of networking. So linking his resignation to problems at AMD is just seems to be BS.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 31, 1999--Siara Systems Inc., a provider of end-to-end managed IP platforms for next-generation metropolitan networks, today announced the appointment of Atiq Raza to the company's Board of Directors. Atiq most recently served as president, chief operating officer and chief technical officer of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Siara has also appointed Don Chan as vice president of development. Chan brings more than 25 years of management and telecommunications leadership in systems and network development, and will be responsible for Siara's software development efforts in Vancouver, British Columbia.

During his tenure at AMD, Mr. Atiq developed the company's processor roadmap, brought the trend-setting AMD-K6 product family to market, and laid the foundation for development and manufacturing ramp-up of the new Athlon processor. Atiq joined AMD after the company's merger with NextGen, where he was chairman and chief executive officer.
Chan comes to Siara from Arris Interactive, where he was a founding member and served as vice president and chief technology officer. Chan was responsible for development and introduction of Arris' Cornerstone cable access system. From 1971 to 1995, Chan held technical and management positions at Nortel (formerly Bell Northern Research). |
