Hi Process Boy, congratulations on Coppermine! A very good day for Intel today - Merced & Cumine!!!

Re: "Barrett: "The communications stuff is well over a billion dollar business and growing faster than the industry. It has the potential to be very big."

A billion is small, but the eventual opportunity is large. But LU sort of bothers me. A mutually beneficial alliance would be reassuring. They've got some pretty smart telco engineers and a (now LU) manager who publicly said a routing company (whose name I won't mention) doesn't understand telco quality and whose VoP won't proliferate until they understand this.

But, it'll take good marketing/sales and efficiency in quality, to succeed. Intel's great at the former, and to the extent a large company can be in this particular segment, is good at the later.

Intel's corporate culture will create a powerful engine to proliferate their technologies/solutions/opportunities because Intel will most likely be the best at "getting the job done" and they will be paranoid enough to understand telco quality, an impeding factor to growth. There'll be some bumps to iron out. Time to start reading the LU thread. This is going to be very interesting.
