"OT ... "liberal" media ... 1-Even if it is true that the media are predominantly liberal, that is irrelevant to the issue of poor reporting on economics and markets. You will find bad reporting in conservative as well as liberal media. " I agree, and I said the same thing.
"2-It is not "provable" that the media are predominantly liberal except to measure by one's own biases, which, in your case I would gather are conservative. The media is largely middle of the road mush, eager to reflect the values of the communities they serve, reluctant to offend readers and viewers..."
It is certainly provable, and I could go on and on, and I'm sure you could too!
How strange that so many stories about Congress refer to it as "the Republican controlled Congress...", but hey, that can't be evidence of bias, now can it? Why would it matter to an unbiased media to point out who controls Congress? It's just that I don't recall any "the Democratic controlled Congress..." writings, when they did. Gee, I must have just missed them!
"...with tough, hard-edged reporting and, above all, profit driven." The reporters I've talked to, the stories I've read knowing the full background ahead of time gives me little comfort that reporters have the smarts, the diligence, or as you mentioned, the backing to do such stories.
