Big flat panel displays!

Apple announced on 8-31-99 at the Seybold Conference they will have available in October 1999 a 22 inch high resolution LCD flat panel display. Their trade name for the display is Apple Cinema Display. However, because of limited availability the display will only be available as part of a package deal. The package incudes a 500 megahertz Power Mac system and a 22 inch flat panel display for $6,498. They didn't give any prices for the 22 inch flat panel display. But did say a 500 megahertz Power Mac system with a read/writeable DVD drive will cost $3,499. Hence estimated cost for a 22 inch flat panel display is $3,000.
