Telos Introduces Automated Message Management System

ASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1999--

NT-based AMHS system provides contextual filtering, routing, and

searching of e-messages, supports AUTODIN and DMS message handling

Telos(R) Corporation, the global provider of e-Solutions for Connected Enterprises(TM), today announced the release of its NT-based Automated Message Handling System (AMHS), a solution designed to alleviate the problems faced by organizations with large volumes of message traffic sent to and from "generic" e-mail addresses, such as "info@agency.gov" or "support@company.com".

An enhancement to existing e-mail products, Telos' AMHS gives organizations the ability to filter and route messages based on context, that is, keywords or concepts within the message itself. In addition, messages can be searched and retrieved, even after they have been forwarded to multiple users' mailboxes.

According to industry reports, the number of e-mail addresses is growing at a rate of 45% annually, with over 29 million added in the second quarter of 1999. By early 1999, there were over 400 million distinct e-mail boxes worldwide. In addition, many on-line services offer newsletters and news updates via e-mail.

The result of this tremendous growth is an exponential increase in electronic message traffic.

Each day, many offices receive thousands of messages addressed to info@office.com. This overwhelming amount of messages - which can include e-mail, news feeds, and organizational and collaborative messages - puts a tremendous strain on resources. Administrative staff then has to open read, sort and prioritize each message before forwarding it to the appropriate personnel. These delays can be costly not only in terms of work hours, but lost opportunities.

"If a customer does not get a rapid response to an inquiry, especially since the Internet allows what should be instant communications, there is a good chance that customer will feel negatively about your organization as a whole," said Andrew Murdock, Telos' Director of Advanced Messaging Solutions.

"Messages that sit in a generic in-box may contain details that can influence business decisions, apprise intelligence gatherers of crucial facts, or give you a competitive advantage. Our solution not only eliminates that problem, it can gather all messages related to a topic, so you can trace the history of issues that can affect the way you run your organization," Murdock said.

The Telos AMHS provides support for the Department of Defense's AUTODIN and DMS messaging systems, which is also used by some civilian agencies. The product is available through a number of Telos' government contracts. Product information is available on the company's web site at telos.com or by calling 800-70-TELOS.
