Folks,

First, some interesting quotes from the press release.

"The sole original RTOS for the IXP-1200"

"One of the charter partners in Intel's newly announced Internet Exchange Architect (IXA)"

"This marriage of our network processor with Wind River software provides a robust development environment as an off-the-shelf solution that is unsurpassed in quality"

Second, have a good read of this article which I posted a few months back (MUST READ).
ixix.com

It looks like the article was right on the money with regard to Intel's strategy going forward. For PC's it's Wintel but for networking equipment its looks like it's definitely Windtel !!!

Another article on IXA.
zdnet.com
"At the heart of Intel's new architecture is the Internet Exchange Processor 1200, which is already available in samples to a handful of customers, including Cisco Systems Inc., Newbridge Networks Inc., Cabletron Systems Inc., Broadband Access Systems, CAG, and Omneon Video Networks"

Also,
theregister.co.uk
"And watch out for WindRiver's share price today. As we reported earlier, its real time operating system is getting to be pervasive. It's not only at the heart of System IO, formerly known as Future IO and NGIO, but it's also to be found in the new marchitecture that corporate vice president Mark Christensen is currently outlining"

Regards
JC.
