El,
I'm starting to get a sense of what a no-brainer sub $1000 PCs really are... who would ever believe that these would NOT be successful? Once the entry level $400 or FREE with a 3 yr subscription to an ISP became more powerful than the 56K lines could handle, who could have any doubt about the success of this category. And who worries about retail store performance when the sub $1000 are all around, especially in the mail... I get at least two offers per week in direct mail (MEI, and assorted).

BUt I am disappointed that CPQ shows up as half as fast in PC MAg's 9/1/99 review of affordable home PCs... how in the world can they justify NOT blowing away this sector? GTW strikes again... building popularity among the technically interested as well as securing repeat biz with their trade in offer.

MU in the same PC Mag is also offering a FREE PC with ISP sign up... FOR LIFE! The signs of desperation are all about!
