Compaq absolutely dominates the consumer sector with more than half the sales. They may well have decided to move users upscale a little while still having a low price offering - whatever they decided it is working.

They just announced 500MHz products which will be "around $500" - those should be good performers.

I'm not going to argue with whatever strategy produced one of the few bright spots in CPQ's dismal last quarter results.
