That's my biggest peeve about unions in general. They put way too much effort into defending those who don't deserve to be defended. If it's a case of the big corporation stepping on someone because they spouted off about unsafe conditions or something that is one thing, but, to defend a member who is a complete idiot just gives the unions a bad reputation.

As an example, on my son's first day of school (1st grade - in a town we have since moved from), his teacher sent home a note which was replete with spelling and syntax errors.

Now that is just scary. Unfortunately many districts really have a difficult time finding teachers. I'm not sure what the answer is, but, basic economics says that if you want to improve the supply and quality of the pool from which you are drawing then you have to pay more.

I whole-heartedly agree with your comment about administrative funding. I recall reading a paper in NY City when I was back there which had an article about a local district that had over half of the budget going toward administrative expenditure. How is that helping?

Now darn it, start saying something that we can argue about. Remember, I'm here to defend the liberals, not agree with the conservatives. ;)
