RESEARCH ALERT - Chico's FAS raised NEW YORK, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Southwest Securities Inc. said Wednesday that analyst Kathy Oher raised her earnings estimate and price target on Chico's FAS Inc., a retailer of women's casual clothing and accessories. -- Oher raised estimates for the fiscal year ending January 2000 to $1.57 a share from $1.51 and the following year to $1.95 from $1.88. -- Chico's FAS 12-month price target was raised to $39, based on the company trading 20 times the earnings estimate of $1.95. -- Chico's is starting its third quarter in a strong fashion with August comparable-store sales expected to be in the 15 percent range or higher, Oher wrote in a research note. -- Chico's reported second-quarter earnings of $3.9 million or $0.45 a share, compared with $2.7 million or $0.32 a share a year ago. Sales rose 37.4 percent to $73.2 million. -- Chico's FAS shares rose 5/16 to 22-1/2. biz.yahoo.com
