Well, of course I know Buras! So I am speaking with a son of Buras. That's quite a thing. My grandfather spoke French, too, but it wasn't cool to be whatever the heck he was. He was part Cajun, but also what they call Boogalee. That's Creole, but from out in the sticks. If you are in New Orleans, they say Creole, but that's snooty, and besides, you could be Creole and black, with aristocratic ancestors, but that doesn't cut any ice in New Roads, Louisiana.
What was that movie with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper, where they ride motorcycles? The little cafe they ate in rural Lousiana at was owned by some of my relatives. |
