Wow! You are hanging out! Real time! Cool!

The guidebooks you chose are really good, and a little off the beaten track. It is hard to go wrong in San Francisco, except that there is an increase in street crime, and also you can turn the corner and go from a good neighborhood to a bad one. I would advise travelling by taxi after dark, for example, unless you have a rental car. The city is extremely confusing, all steep hills and one-way streets, so I guess I think taxis are superior for tourists. And the Haight Ashbury is really a violent place, with burn-outs on hard drugs. I would not advise any kind of nostalgic visits to it.

I have been really busy lately just enjoying the summer and my family. I do think I will be around here a lot more when it is cold and dark and there is a fire crisply burning in the fireplace near the computer. For the moment, I am sucking in the last bits of late sunshine and swinging on our new patio swing. Make hay while the sun shines!
