Ah, geez, congratulations! When I just scanned your thread, I saw wonderful writers there like Lather, so I am sure that it is very successful.
I have not been exactly following the breast feeding discussion, but would add that I believe it is the most natural thing in the world, and that I nursed my child for years and years, following the wonderful La Leche League book about nursing toddlers and older children. In primitive societies, children nurse as old as six. And in fact, there are reputable psychologists who argue that the high rate of neurosis in American society comes from lack of breast feeding, and keeping babies in cribs, rather than sleeping with their mothers, which is the norm not only in most of the world today, but throughout most of history in most cultures.
There is something about Americans which makes us think we invented the wheel, or something. In fact, our society has many deficits, and very rough edges, along with all the wonderful freedoms which we guarantee (at least to the affluent). |
