Rather than looking to Win2000 now, you're probably better off installing NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4. For a Microsoft product, the stability is ok with NT 4.0, but you would have needed to wait until Service Pack 2 to get that kind of stability. Brand new Microsoft O/S products uniformly perform horribly until the first couple of service packs come out, and even though Microsoft says that Win2000 is different, there is no upside to believing them.
