Is it true that MSFT gets 40% of revenues from Office?

That's the number that being cited on the Sun thread. If that is true, I think we will definitely see MSFT in the 80s before the end of the year.

Also, it is being claimed that there has been a tremendous response to this free Star Office download and Sun's servers are having a hard time coping with the demand. And that Star Office already has 30% of the German market. That's quite a chunk given that the software was not free until recently (even though Star is a German company and there may be nationalistic feelings involved in selecting software). I wonder what is Star Office's market share in the rest of Europe.

How will MSFT respond to this new threat to its biggest cash cow? What concerns me is that old strategies of changing the file formats forcing users to upgrade anymore are not practical (there are too many users now and there would be too much confusion). What strategies will they implement to protect their 100 million users of MSFT Office?
