I do remember going out at night to watch Sputnik. I remember sitting on a branch of my favorite tree, listening to my transistor radio, to a speech by President Kennedy talking about the space program. I was so excited, I thought when I grew up I might be an astronaut.

I remember 35 cent movies. 35 cent paperback books, I was a big Edgar Rice Burroughs fan. Nickle cokes. Then six cent cokes, the machine took a penny and a nickle. Then ten cent cokes, but they were the ten ounce ones.
