I was not aware of that but they got a $1.5billion break-up fee from T on the United media merger so they are doing something right. also there holdings in T and Liberty Media are offset by about the same amount of long term debt so just because a hedge results in a loss it does not mean that isn't a well thought out strategy- protect your long term gains, if you lose on your hedge its a short term loss and you can offset sizable cash flow. These guys have grown there assets and net worth a lot better than I have in the last 10 years. The also owned about 10% of ICGE before the IPO and I guaranty they paid a lot less for it than $12 per share and the thing is not anyplace I could find it on their balance sheet and they have other internet investments that they are not disclosing.
