Actually Pete, it can be even better.

A lot of times these deals have warrants attached or are preferred stock with a payment in kind dividind (ie floorless or similar). This is a very lucrative deal for the hedge funds that often do them. It allows POSs like TMSR, who could almost never attract real equity investors, to keep floating along.
