Despite its title, the book is less about the centuries-old conflict between Islam and Christianity than a description of the conflict between tradition (Jihad) and tradition (McWorld). At the risk of over-simplification, Barber writes that while technology is breaking down boundaries, societies are becoming increasingly insular and two are parallel lines which, of course, will never meet.
