Dow Jones Newswires -- September 2, 1999 DJ Invesco Telecom Mgr Likes Cisco, Echostar, JDS Uniphase
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Invesco Telecommunications Fund senior fund manager Brian Hayward looks for opportunities in the global communications infrastructure.
With $1.1 billion in assets, the fund has core holdings in Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) and Echostar Communications Corp. (DISH), Hayward told CNBC in an interview Thursday.
Hayward is excited for Echostar's launches this year, one of which will allow for a 500-channel offering.
Because of its position in a fast-growing sector of laser components, Hayward also likes JDS Uniphase Corp. (JDSU), a maker of laser subsystems and equipment for fiber-optic telecommunications, signal processing, and laser-based semiconductor wafer inspection and analysis.
Hayward also likes Redback Networks Inc. (RBAK), a provider of networking software that enables carriers, cable multiple systems operators and service providers to rapidly deploy high-speed broadband access to the Internet and corporate networks; and Amdocs Ltd. (DOX), a provider of billing services to telecom companies.
