Cirruslvr,

<KZNerd - RE: "I read everything I could find on IDF last night but it is still not clear to me what Intel's support for PC133 will be. Will they spin Camino for direct PC133 support?"
This article says Intel WILL use PC133 - dailynews.yahoo.com

As far as whether or not Camino will support PC133, The Register says no, but yes to PC100. While this is The Register, they seem to have gotten their info from an Intel press conference.

theregister.co.uk;

I was pretty convinced that Camino was going to support 133MHz memory, and I was surprised to see a denial in one of the news stories. There have been rumors on the need to make PC133 specs tighter to make them work with Camino and yesterday we saw some vague comments from McWilliams (?) on that too but nothing solid. Looks like Intel may not have gotten the support from memory vendors to tighten the specs - especially given the short lead times.

Whatever the status of Camino and PC133, it is clear that PC133 has left the station and by the comments from the Intel rep and other news stories so far there is confirmation of wide adoption of PC133 chipsets (from VIA, RCC etc.).

This is a minor disadvantage for AMD for the Christmas season unless VIA comes through with its chipset in time.

Chuck

P.S.: Meanwhile my contacts inform me that PC133/RDRAM support issues are now under a high level review within Intel and decisions on Timna/PineCrest/Almador are all pending that review. So, I am not expecting a clear talk from Intel until that review is complete and a roadmpa flush occurs.
