I guess Media Metrix is getting what they want: we're dying to see more of their stats, and we're frustrated by only getting the free ones! Looksmart is doing great by being partnered with Alta Vista and Go2Net and many others. I noticed that Canada.com (a portal owned by media giant Hollinger, Inc.) was using Looksmart Canada as their in-house directory. When you've got arguably the strongest directory service, you are going to have a lot of partners - portals who need directories. Of course the competition is heating up in the directory space; Looksmart may drop off somewhat but the Altavista connection will likely keep them up there. Go2Net should climb as they make acquisitions and as they increase subscriptions and get the word out about sites like Silicon Investor. There is less mass 'numbers' impact of a site like SI. Don't know when they'll start counting those Dogpile numbers.
