Thanks David. I'll check that out. I seem to be running into problems buying BEARX because I'm in Canada and the only U.S. mutual funds I can buy are those which are "offered" in Canada (ie, the big well-known ones). I think this has more to do with marketing agreements than securities regulations.

However, my broker is looking into it further. In the meantime, I'm also going to investigate whether there are similar funds in Canada. If anyone out there knows of any, let me know.
