Alas, Kahn, I am already cynical about society. Whenever I hear about our government, it reminds me of a bunch of first graders fighting over some building blocks. Everyone seems more interested in trying to make a point rather that doing anything. Jesse Helms, for example, would sacrifice international relations to make his point on issues he wants addressed. Bill Clinton, well, as I see it, his actual work as president has been good, but he is among the most repugnant people I have heard of. In spite of all the above, I'm sure things would get better if people just didn't take themselves so seriously. The Baby Boomers seem to have screwed things up thus far, and I hope they will eventually grow up as a generation. Generation X is just rebelling in general about such things as the existance of the Wall Street Journal and Spam. Generation Y, which I hope I am considered belonging to, has yet to collectively wake up, but I expect it will be generally disgusted with the world at large and go sulk in a corner. In short, I hope everyone will finally grow up, take a look around, and finally discuss things without all the posturing and theater. Things are not irreprably damaged, but they need to change. |
