Bill, JNPR closed at 198+ today. Lets call it 200 for round numbers.
125 is 75 points on the downside.
75 points on the upside is 275.
Do you honestly believe that JNPR is more likely to go to 275 from here than to 125? If not, why do you say that shorting it is playing with fire?
Let me ask you an honest, simple question.
You are long JNPR. Examine your motivations, your prejudices, your bias, and your judgment. Knowing everything that you do about Juniper, its prospects, the valuation level, and the state of the market at this time, do you honestly believe that holding a long position at this time is less risky than shorting at 200? In answering this question, may I suggest that you make believe that you do not own the stock.
If you can honestly answer this question in the affirmative, then you should continue to hold.
If your answer is yes, and you are vindicated, I will be the first to congratulate you.
Good luck to you in your investments.
