As one of many who tried to deal with AOL in the GG context, is it or ain't it ?, the "process" point is relevant as is the reference to Dell as a potential way of doing business - not just limited to PCs per se.

Did not continue with AOL because I couldn't seem to fit it in GG rules, but from anecdotal experience, i.e. that once in AOL most of those I know kept it even if they used other ISPs in addition, I felt that there are very real "switching costs" away - it is sticky so to speak - the AOL e mail address was considered a "sunk" cost for example.. Also AOL was a pioneer in using advertising as a major source of revenue. Some gorilla like aspects, yet not a classic.

Perhaps AOL would be a good example to examine re whether the "process" can permit the creation of some valuable animal even if it is not a gorilla under the rules in the first edition.
