Maybe e-machines specifically has some major fleas, but the concept of PC's as low cost appliances I think is valid. It's only a matter of time.

I've found the experience of buying and owning a Dell laptop has been a rather bad experience. It's fine as long as the computer is working, but as soon as something goes wrong you are totally on your own. Dell barricades itself through phone answering machines, and you have to be a hero to get through to a live person. In other words, the Dell experience SUCKS! (unless you like frustration at a very high dollar cost)

So, if emachines fails, then another should spring up to take it's place and supplant fat and happy Dell, Compaq, and the others. It only took emachines like a year to become the #4 in units.
