Pat: I have been following this thread for several months for my brother and myself. We now own a significant number of Amati shares and continue to add to our position, especially at these prices. I would like to remind everyone that Paradyne was spun off from Lucent Technologies last June for $240 million (correct me if I'm wrong) to a group of private investors. Amati's market cap presently is only $190 million and it is the chosen standard of ANSI and ETSI with multiple strong partnerships as we all know. IMHO Amati is undervalued at this price and the risk/reward ratio is appropriate. Back in March, I read a post indicating that Ericsson was using an Amati modem in its products and when I reviewed their web page, I found an E-mail address. So I wrote to them to ask about their Cobra AT8 products. The Ericsson Cobra Crew answered me on April 1 that "The 8 Mbit/s standard compliant solution is available for limited trials today and will be released for mass deployment during Q2/97. The product has been displayed during the Cebit 97 in Hanover two weeks ago. The price per line will start at around USD 1000 (configuration dependent)". I'm not sure what is meant by the term "mass deployment" but it sounds as though at least the commercial sale of Amati DMT modems is about to begin. Perhaps you could ask RC about this and also try to find out whose chips are being used in "Ericsson's" modem. I would also like to take issue with those who advise that it is bad to have "religion" when owning stocks. When it comes to owning story stocks like Amati that have only minimal sales and no earings, I have found that only religious fervor is strong enough to keep me from dumping my stock out on the market and heading for the hills before the sky falls. In times like these, I put on my "crash helmet", climb into my "bunker" and read the "gospel" (a collection of articles, notes, bulletin board posts, stock analysts reviews, etc. that contain the essence of why I bought the stock in the first place). It works for me, although I can't recommend it to others. I keep my bunker stashed with a 1 year supply of Maalox and Valium. Just Call Me Doc
