You have not explained why you feel that Taiwan is not worth defending. Vietnam pull-out was a disaster, just as predicted, except worse. Your logic is thus: Since the communist haven't succeeded in their plan for world domination yet, then our defense of democracy in Vietnam was not necessary, and should not be required except in situations where our economic prosperity is threatened.

Nigeria is entitled to self-rule. Taiwan is also. They have chosen democracy. We have promised to defend them in the event that China attacks. Not only would it be a blow to other countries who wish to break free from the yoke of communism (like the people of China), it would be a blow to the credibility of Americans everywhere, and an invitation to terrorists worldwide to do as they will to vulnerable democracies around the world.
