Another question for BLS next week:
What roaming agreements will G* users be able to take advantage of when in range of terrestrial networks?
Background: we all know that G* phones will come dual and tri-modal. Iridium provides a similar feature by way of cassettes. But this functionality is only useful if roaming agreements are in place. From looking at the Iridium coverage maps, it's clear that many places that would benefit from roaming agreements don't have them. This includes large parts of the US and Canada, Mexico, S. America except Columbia and Chile, China, India, New Zealand, all of Africa (except S. Africa, where an Irid owner can roam, but not use the space segment,) and most of Eastern Europe.
I'd like to think that roaming agreements Vod, Tesam, etc already have will apply to their G* subscribers, but it would be nice to know, concretely, what these are and that G* users will benefit from them. |
