I spoke with a staffer in the office of the Chairman of the Michigan House Committee on Ethics, which oversees gaming issues. The Indian compact is on their agenda for this session and there should be no problem with passage in the House, which has a Democratic majority. They feel there will be resistance in the Senate, with a Republican majority.

Stockholders meeting today. I don't feel that current management understands what it means to run a publicly traded company. There should be no stock option plan voted until they are able to make the stock perform. Making the company run at marginal profitability might cut it for a privately run company, but in a publicly run company shareholder value comes first. You must be able to run the company at profitability and make the stock perform, not just the former. Make them both happen and then the shareholders can reward you with options, not before.
