MP3.com Launches the Music and Technology Tour Six-Week Tour Featuring The Goo Goo Dolls, Tonic and Top MP3.com Artists Will Hit College Campuses Nationwide
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- MP3.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: MPPP - news), working in conjunction with the William Morris Agency, today announced the launch of its first-ever concert tour combining music and technology.
The concert tour is expected to visit approximately 28 college campuses across the United States and will feature the Goo Goo Dolls as headliners, as well as pop rock artist Tonic, from October 5 to November 17. Expanding on the traditional concert tour concept, each location will feature an ``MP3.com Village,' which will double as a live music venue (with a full concert stage) and a technology and extreme lifestyle fair. College students and fans will be able to listen to music from top local MP3.com bands, sample the latest MP3 technology, and enjoy demonstrations and giveaways from top companies during these one day events. Concert attendees can easily access the tour schedule at tour.mp3.com.
``We are carrying the general philosophy of our website over to the Music and Technology Tour -- maximum exposure to music, information and entertainment at minimal cost,' said John Diaz, vice president, industry relations at MP3.com.
The Goo Goo Dolls, Tonic and MP3.com artists will perform in enclosed venues on each college campus in close proximity to the MP3.com Village. The concert stage inside the MP3.com Village will feature performances by a major act, as well as local MP3.com artists from each of the cities where the concert is taking place. The MP3.com Village will also feature an evening rave showcasing the top local electronic DJs.
The MP3.com Village will feature different tents, including the ``Technology Hub' and ``Destination X,' as well as an MP3.com tent. The Technology Hub will feature hardware, software and other computer-related technology companies, while Destination X will house extreme lifestyle companies, as well as related sports equipment and apparel companies. There will be concessions and merchandise at each of the stops as well.
Commenting on the concert, John Diaz added, ``Keeping in mind the limited budgets of many college students, a ticket for the event, which includes admittance to both the Goo Goo Dolls/Tonic concert and the MP3.com Village, will be approximately $20.' A separate MP3.com Village ticket will be sold for approximately $10.
