I am not well disposed to bats in any case, although I was never haunted by one.

Actually, I read a long article in the NYer about bats a couple of years ago, and understand they are very nice in spite of their homeliness. Maybe it was interesting more than nice. Unfortunately, they are having a hard time because people are ruining their habitats, often on purpose.
