rudedog:<ibm/cisco> In a huge enterprise account, how much does the client's real use of systems in general, absolutely require that "network" expertise, not be separated from ANY systems design--Is there ANY way, of conducting a radical redesign, without a real partnership-design team, with cisco having a VERY important/high level design responsibiltiy...How does IBM come out ahead in a situatiion like this, unless THEY completely run redesigns---which is not realistic, in today's world... I guess I am trying to press you, as to where this is all really headed...Even if there were no other players, seems to me that cisco becomes stronger and stronger in more vital ways, than IBM, with this latest move. I suspect that there are many aspects of this deal that will never be revealed, driven primarily by IBM's desire to claim competency in any sized e-commerce situation... ...Then considering Sun WITH cisco (in a way)---chopping away...and then of course, Dell is there primarily at the low end accounts (for now)...I think my point is, I can see IBM wanting to really work with CISCO, but (when it comes to dell) wanting to continue to try to keep dell in its "place"...To me, the cisco thing makes sense only if IBM becomes even tighter in design situations with cisco, than it has been...This move seems to me, to improve ibm's advantage only/primarily with its present largest accounts...I can't think of a more advantageous move for ibm to make... |
