Has anyone else here actually used Star Office 5.1? I tried it for the first time today, and sadly I must say that I was underwhelmed.

Using SO, I opened an Excel spreadsheet that I use to track my investments. First of all the spreadsheet, which takes about 5 seconds to load in Excel, took perhaps two minutes to load in Star Office. Then a lot of the formatting was different (e.g. dates were European DD/MM/YY), and some chart labels were totally screwy. Finally, when I tried to close the spreadsheet I got a fatal error dialog, and Star Office stopped responding. I eventually ended the task using Task Manager.

I am looking forward to trying easier tests with Star Office. However, based on my dismal initial experience I suspect it is not ready for prime time.

I would be interested to hear about others' experiences using SO 5.1.
