A footnote to message 1594 (Jules Garfunkel) and 1570 (dppl):

It's strange to relate but I really started paying attention to INTC when they decided to humanize their PR with "Intel inside." Then, with the PR fiasco of the "faulty" Pentium chips, I realized they were still inept yet very serious about creating some kind of consumer identity -- the Maytag repairman --. This, I believe, is an understated aspect of their own vision of the future. I believe it is much more than just a PR stunt, is rather a part of a shift to bring co-processors to the shopping mall or something like that. Follow closely this shift of mindset. Look for the "Intel inside" sticker on more and more products. My hunch is that this is the most important reason to pay attention to INTC's future growth. A SONY-type division within INTC?

We're projecting 2 to 3 years down the line until we see fruits of this shift of mindset, but as many people in this thread have noted, this eventuality is not yet reflected in INTC's price(for good or bad). Whether INTC can handle this shift is a good question and certainly requires management skills not in place now.
